Table of Contents

How much is Finnair Carry-On Baggage Allowance?

Finnair is not generous in the case of carry-on baggage allowances. It varies according to the fare and travel class.

  • Finnair allows travelers to bring one personal item irrespective of the fare and cabin class. The personal item could be a handbag, laptop bag, or a small backpack within the size limits.
  • Business Class and Premium Economy class travelers with either Flex, Classic, or Light fare can bring one carry-on bag.
  • Similarly, Economy Class passengers with Flex and Classic fares are eligible to take one carry-on bag into the cabin. However, the Economy Superlight fare does not give any standard carry-on allowance.
  • On the other hand, Economy Superlight fare holders can purchase the carry-on allowance as a travel extra.

Finnair Carry-On Size and Weight

  • The size of the personal item/small bag should not be more than 40*30*15 cm.
  • Passengers bringing carry-on bags should ensure that it should not exceed the following dimensions – 55*40*23 cm. It applies to all travel classes.
  • Ensure that the personal item should fit beneath the seat whereas the carry-on bag fits inside the overhead compartment.

Finnair Carry-On Weight Restrictions

  • Finnair gives a combined weight allowance under its baggage policy. However, it is different according to cabin class.
  • The combined weight of the handbag and carry-on piece in Business class should be at most 12 kg/ 26.5 lbs.
  • On the other hand, in Premium Economy and Economy classes, the maximum combined weight allowance as per Finnair baggage policy is 8 kg/ 17.5 lbs.

Carry-on Baggage Allowance for Infants and Children

  • The Finnair baggage allowance is dependent on the ticket. So, if an infant has a ticket, then they can bring the carry-on items as per their fare eligibility.
  • However, an infant (0-2) years, without a reserved seat on Finnair does not get any baggage allowance.
  • The accompanying adults can bring only a foldable pushchair and safety seat inside the cabin. However, it should meet the size and weight requirements of Finnair’s Carry-on baggage policy.
  • A foldable pushchair will be counted as a carry-on bag. In that case, flyers can bring only a personal item.
  • Children get the same carry-on baggage allowance as the adult passengers.

Finnair Checked Baggage Allowance

Finnair is strict about the size and weight of the checked baggage. Also, the permissible checked baggage limits on Finnair depend on fare, travel class, and routes. So, before flying on a Finnair international flight, travelers should check the baggage allowance on their tickets.

  • The standard size of checked baggage on Finnair should not be more than 90cm x 75cm x 45cm or 35in x 30in x 18in (external dimension).
  • Also, the maximum weight of baggage can be 23 kg or as per the ticket conditions.
  • Remember that Light and other lower fares do not offer free checked baggage facilities. But, passengers can purchase it later.

  • However, only Flex and Classic fare offers the allowance.
