There are three possible aspects: delay in the flight, cancellation, and denied boarding when you need to rebook or an airline rebooks your flight. Please read the terms and conditions below:

  • As required by the Air Passenger Protection Regulations, the airline will try to rebook you on the following Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, or Air Canada Express flights, preferably with one of their partner airlines first.
  • External websites that might not adhere to accessibility standards.
  • Please speak with an Air Canada person at the gate or customer care counter if you are already at the airport or call customer support so they can look into other options if the rebooking arrangement Air Canada provided does not meet your needs.
  • Alternatively, you can ask for a refund if there is a delay in the flight by 3 hours since it is within their control or necessary for safety. Alternatively, they can return you to your point of origin if your travel is no longer necessary. However, they aren’t able to accommodate your needs.
  • Under the Air Passenger Protection Regulations, you are eligible for $400 in compensation if the flight disruption was the airline’s fault.
  • For delays of 3 hours or more before departure due to reasons beyond their control, you may request a refund of the unused portion of your booked flight ticket.
  • If you booked your flight directly through Air Canada, go to Manage My Booking to modify or cancel your reservation.
  • Please contact your travel provider directly if you made your reservation through a travel agent or any online travel provider.
  • The airline cannot modify your booking because each partner has a different booking system.

Meals & Accommodation – Air Canada Rebook Flight

Eligibility –

If you meet the requirements below and your travel plans are not further delayed due to the flight disruption due to circumstances beyond control, including those necessary for safety, you are eligible for meals.

  • You are informed less than 12 hours before departure.
  • You have missed your scheduled departure time by two hours.

Offerings

  • Food and drink in appropriate portions.
  • Electronic means of communication, for example – free Wi-Fi.
  • Subject to availability and within a reasonable distance from the airport, a hotel or comparable lodging will be offered if you must spend the night because of other travel arrangements. You will also receive transportation to the hotel or equivalent accommodation and back to the airport.
